RadioMaster TX16S MKII HALL V4.0 4-in-1

I’ve had a few Spektrum radios over the years. Compared to the earlier Airtronics (Sanwa) and Futaba, they were a bargain. But, I was never willing to invest in their more expensive models, so I always got the cheap 6ch radio. The current DX6E is about $280. When I saw the RadioMaster TX16S for $200, it gave me pause. Here was a radio with many more channels, touch screen color display and a ton of community support for $80 less!

There is a significant learning curve to EdgeTX, the software the TX16S runs. But, the capabilities of custom mixes, curves and more are the equivalent of the top end Futaba and Spektrum transmitters costing >$2000. The 4in1 means I can run any older BNF models like the Blade Helios or the Eflite planes, plus many more. And I can add an ELRS module in the expansion bay to give my TX the ability to work with most any receiver I’d want. I’m really looking forward to trying out the Nexus FBL running Rotorflight on a new heli build.

As a bonus, I can hook it up to my computer to edit models and settings & even use it as a joystick. It works perfectly with Next Heli to practice maneuvers BEFORE you get to the field.

While this version uses the cheaper gimbals, they are still hall-effect and feel very precise. You can always opt for the higher end CNC version, or even just buy and add the gimbals to this version. The complete customizable design and EdgeTX make this the best buy in RC!

Great unit

Was a learning curve to figure out Edge TX and get it bound the first time, but worth the effort and super nice to be able to edit the models and get my heli's flying however I prefer. The possibilities are endless! Highly recommend helidirect and this Radiomaster TX16S transmitter!

This is a very sophisticated transmitter that is compatible with just about every RX out there. The learning curve is steep but it's well worth it. Lots of videos available to help you along.

Fast delivery, cheapest price. Still figuring the radiomaster out. It should do everything I need once it is figured out.

This is a very very nice radio for the price. The only problem is that it has so many features that it's unlikely that I will ever use some of them. But I do think that it's better to have something with more potential than something that can't do what you want it to. I decided on the 4-in-1 module. Because I doubt if I will ever need the other one. Because it's more towards the drones. And if I ever do decide to get back into drones I can always get the external module that I will need for them. But for right now I just want to be able to get my planes off the ground and keep trying to learn how to fly the smaller 3D helicopters.

Yes, there’s a learning curve with EdgeTX, but once it clicks, it’s very easy to set everything up. Having the internal multi protocol covers all the bases, and still allows for an external module for longer range options.

Bottom line is, if you’re looking for a great radio that covers the bases, you can’t go wrong with this one.
