I bought the Talon 90 only because it was specified for the Extreme Flight Pantera, an airplane intended for speed. For this purpose, the Talon 90 is pretty good in that it provides an excellent amount of power and it can be programmed with a Castle Link. However there is no data provided by this unit so if you want to know how the motor is performing you can't, as far as I know. For helicopters I much prefer the Castle Edge series with the additional white wire and lots of data to download after a flight. Airplanes are crude devices compared to helicopters so in this instance it's good enough.
Great esc I use them in heli and planes
Prices and service Are very good , just discount coupons should also be added or loyalty points . Rest Heli Direct rocks.... Sankalp (INDIA)
Works like a champ on my Trex 500L.. love the monster BEC as well, servos stay well powered. Castle quality, and Helidirect service. Unbeatable combination!
Quick canopy mounts are awesome. Heli direct is on top of they're on top of customer support and fast shipping
I brought my talon 90 and it arrived promptly. The service was excellent. Don't hesitate to buy from Helidirect!!
installed in new G380 build fits perfect without holder remember to order wire of appropriate size to extend motor wires to esc
I kind of jumped the gun, and didn't do enough research, or I would have gone with the Castle Lite 100, because it has logging, and an output lead for external RPM sensor. That aside, I can say, I have been running the Talon in my G380 w/BK servos(DS3001 & 5005HV) set to 8v. and it has been working flawlessly! The built in Governor works very, very good, and the BEC has plenty of power. Some have been worried about the 20amp BEC running through 1 single Servo lead, however I've read about the testing that CC did on this unit, working it really hard, and using thermal cameras to keep an eye on the wires, and connectors. It seems legit to me, for now, it has been working great! I am using a short lead extension to reach my FBL unit, and I have been keeping an eye on that connection especially. it has not gotten even the slightest bit warm after flight. Another reviewer had issues with the Talon on a G500, and I have heard of others who had issues with Talon overheating on 500 sized birds. From what I have seen, the Talon is not quite up to par for a 500 size, doing hard 3d. I'm sure for scale flying, it would be fine. For G380 it is working great, and is barely warm to the touch after 6mins. KDE500-925-G3 motor, with stock 21t pinion, 3100RPM. I took 1 star off, as it would be better if it had logging at least, and even better w/rpm out lead.
Fits nice!
The Talon 90 is a good esc for the Align 500 and 550 for those that need the increased internal bec capacity of the Talon esc.
The quality and performance is good. I am very satisfied with the product. The battery leads had to be extended to fit on a 500 Pro EFL which is a simple process.
